JLA Advogados associate lawyer Edna Sacate participated this Wednesday, 8 October, as a speaker at the Seminar on the Consolidation of the Legal Regime of Secured Transactions (CRGM), held at the Sudden Sun Hotel in Maputo.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs (MJCR) through the Implementation Committee of the Central Registry of Secured Transactions, brought together professionals from the legal, financial, and business sectors in a forum for dialogue and exchange of practical experiences on the use of the CRGM.
Edna Sacate took part in the second panel, dedicated to the theme “Use Cases and Practical Challenges”, where she discussed the importance of gathering contributions to improve the system’s usability. She emphasized the relevance of collaboration among different stakeholders — from financial institutions to legal practitioners — to ensure that the secured transactions registration system becomes increasingly efficient and accessible.
During the seminar, participants presented use cases and discussed operational challenges in implementing the legal framework, as well as the role of the Central Registry of Secured Transactions in credit risk assessment, expanding access to financing, and reducing financial default.
This initiative forms part of the Second Phase of the Consolidation of the Legal Regime of Secured Transactions, aimed at strengthening the legal and institutional environment to facilitate credit and drive economic development in Mozambique.
The event reaffirmed the commitment of the MJCR and its institutional partners to improving the secured transactions system, making it more transparent, inclusive, and aligned with international best practices.
