JLA Advogados supports moot court competition at Eduardo Mondlane University

JLA Advogados is sponsoring the 2026 edition of the Moot Court competition, organised by the Faculty of Law of Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) in Mozambique. The final round will take place on 5 November at Amphitheatre 2502 on the university campus in Maputo.

The initiative challenges law students to put the knowledge acquired during their academic studies into practice through a simulated court hearing. The exercise provides an opportunity to develop essential skills for the legal profession, including legal argumentation, analytical thinking, oral advocacy and the development of defence strategies.

The competition will culminate in a simulated court hearing before a panel comprising Hermenegildo Pedro Chambal, a judge, Leopoldina Gouveia, from Justiça Ambiental, and Sara Marquez Martin, from Arquitecta Sem Fronteira, who will be responsible for assessing the participants’ performance.

The final session will begin at 1.00 pm, with the official opening led by Eduardo Chiziane, Director of the Faculty of Law at UEM. Following the simulated hearing and the panel’s deliberations, the competition results will be announced, followed by the presentation of the prize and certificates of participation.

As a sponsor of the initiative, JLA Advogados will be responsible for presenting the competition prize and will also take part in awarding certificates to the students.
