Edna Sacate is an associate lawyer at JLA Advogados since 2016.

Edna Sacate is an associate lawyer at JLA Advogados since 2016, where she works primarily on debt recovery, arbitration, judicial and disciplinary proceedings (with particular focus on bank), incorporation and dissolution of companies.

 

She focuses on matters relating to acquisition and sale of shares in national companies, acquisition and sale of real states, hiring of foreign citizens, regularisation of the companies already incorporated, and which are in situations of risk and/or irregularity.

 

Additionally, she participates in investment operations in Mozambique, advising on Labour and Immigration issues.

  • Advising a foreign citizen in the acquisition of Mozambican nationality (by naturalness);

  • Advising a multinational company  in the implementation of the project of construction of a complex building comprising a Shopping Centre and a Hotel in Maputo, as well as in enter into contracts with shopkeepers;

  • Advising a multination insurance company on the acquisition of shares in two mozambican companies in the insurance sector;

  • Advising foreign companies on the acquisition of shares in cement industry;

  • Advising International Cooperation Agency carrying out a comparative study between the legal regimes and practices for hiring foreign citizens in Mozambique, and some countries members of SADC and CPLP, which culminated in preparation of a report in partnership with the Agency for Promotion of Investment and Exports (“APIEX”);

  • Assistance to one of the largest construction companies in Turkey on ongoing labour and immigration matters, such us Memos, Legal Opinions on the legal and labour situation of employees, hiring of national and foreign citizens, as well as termination of legal-labour relations;

  • Advising a Pontifical Foundation in the process of hiring foreigners and national volunteers to collaborate with the foundation in Mozambique, as well assisting in the acquisition of visas, work and residence permits;

  • Advising a foreign company in the landscape architecture sector, in the dissolution of the company incorporated in Mozambique;

  • Assistance to a Brazilian group in the industrial sector with a special focus on agribusiness, construction, engineering, infrastructure, mining and steel, and oil and gas, by advising the branch set in Mozambique on ongoing labour and contract law matters regarding workforce recruitment;

  • Advising one of the largest a Portuguese group in the energy sector, with vast geographical expansion, both nationally and internationally, on various ongoing labour, immigration and social security matters, such us legal Memos, Legal Opinions, hiring of national and foreign citizens, as well as termination of legal-labour relations.
